  • What is the minimum age for work experience students?

    The minimum age a students has to be is 16 due to insurance purposes. 

  • What is my role at Hill's Canine Hydrotherapy?

    As part of work experience, we would expect you to interact with clients in a suitable and professional manner.

    As well as this aspect of the job, a lot of a hydrotherapist’s and assistant’s role is cleaning. A few of the jobs that we expect you to do are:

    Hoovering and mopping

    Cleaning the drains

    Cleaning the Underwater Treadmill glass

    Writing the boards at the end of the day

    Harnessing up a dog

    Counting stock

    Alphabetising consent forms

  • What will my working hours be?

    Due to the nature of our work we are open 9:30 to 8:30, however this can vary due to being an appointment based service. Your hours will be decided prior to your placement.

  • How can I get to you?

    You can only get to our centre by car, so will need to be driven or be able to drive.

  • Will I be able to handle every dog?

    No, due to us having reactive dogs on our client base as well as nervous dogs. We will communicate throughout your work experience on which sessions you will be able to observe. 

Confidentiality Agreement


All information you receive is confidential. This includes client details, patient and veterinary surgeon details, medical histories plus any discussion about the cases.

Hill’s Canine Hydrotherapy do not allow photographs or film (video, digital or mobile phone camera). This again is to preserve client confidentiality. With permission from owner, Katherine Hill, photos may be taken if necessary.

We pride ourselves on our professionalism here at Hill’s and hope our students and work experience will do likewise. Please make sure you use appropriate language, observe our health and safety culture- remember you are visiting and/or training and do not put yourselves, others, or our patients at risk.

We love our students to be able to input in the conversations with clients but please respect boundaries.

Owners can either agree or refuse to allow students to handle their dogs. You will always be supervised by a senior Hydrotherapist.

We are happy to answer any questions you may have. However please consider the owners feelings and our confidentiality rules. For instance, some of our patients have a limited life expectancy or no expectation of a full recovery. 


You will be required to sign a copy of this at the start of your week of work experience.
